DESCRIPTION OF THE INSTITUTION

Bacau County School Inspectorate is a public body, under the authority of the Romanian Ministry of Education. Our main task is to coordinate, monitor and improve the curriculum and management activity of the schools in the county of Bacau (about 300 public schools: kindergartens, primary schools, gymnasiums, highschools, vocational and trades schools and 20 private schools).

Our institution also coordinates and monitors the activity of the regional Teacher Training Centre which offers free courses for all teachers in our county, as well as the Children’s Palace/Club, an institution which provides extracurricular alternatives to students who are talented at painting, drawing, programming, acting etc.

Our institution has analysed the needs and opportunity of developing the project, based on data collected from schools with the most experience in dealing with gifted students. Therefore, for the purpose of the project we will collaborate locally with three schools which have expertise in identifying and promoting gifted students, have good results in the school contests and develop a wide variety of activities meant to support talented students in self-improvement. These will provide hands-on materials and activities that they use with their students in order to support their professional development during the LTTAs. Also, we will collaborate with the County Center of Resources and Educational Support in Bacau, to investigate and propose ways of offering support and counselling for the development of social and emotional competences of gifted students, which is sometimes a need of gifted students that we, as teachers, seem to overlook.

Key persons: The General School Inspector is the legal representative and will act as the manager of the project at local level. She has coordinated and managed previous European-funded Projects (Erasmus+, POSDRU - SOPHRD). The Deputy General Inspector will have duties in monitoring and evaluating the project activities. Another key person is the inspector for European projects who has extensive experience in coordinating Erasmus+ projects and EEA Grants. Her main duties as local coordinator will be to communicate with partners, identify the resources to implement the transnational and local activities, select participants, report to the coordinator and oversee the dissemination activities at local level. The chief accountant will be part of the management team, with financial expertise in European projects.

The implementation team will be made up of school inspectors who have experience in the topic and a minimum B1 English level. They coordinate the school activities and communicate with the responsible people in each school, apply assessment and feedback instruments.

All the school inspectors have experience in curriculum design and the implementation of assessment practices, in school management and in educational research. They coordinate the activity of teachers, monitor and counsel them in the teaching process.
